Before you head out
On sunny summer days, metal slides, steps and dark rubber surfaces can get hot enough to burn small hands. Touch them first, or go in the morning when they are in the shade.
If you plan to stay a while, look for a park tagged with restrooms. A splash pad in the same park is a good bonus from late May to early September.

Which parks have restrooms?
12,180 parks in our list have public restrooms mapped. Each city page shows them as a tag, so you can plan a longer stay with small kids.
Are playgrounds safe for toddlers?
Many parks have a separate area for ages 2 to 5 next to the one for older kids, as the US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends. Check the surface under the equipment and the temperature of slides on sunny days.
Where does the list come from?
From OpenStreetMap, where volunteers and city staff map parks and what is in them. Coverage is better in some cities than others. If a playground is missing, use our suggestion form and we add it.
