Frequently asked questions
Where is an inclusive playground in California?
Magical Bridge Playground in Palo Alto is one of 31 inclusive or sensory playgrounds we list in California. Others are in Walnut Creek, Redwood City, San Jose and San Diego.
How many wheelchair-accessible playgrounds are in California?
167 in our data: 30 inclusive, 1 sensory, 107 wheelchair accessible, 29 partly accessible. Not every accessible playground in California is marked on the map, so local parks departments may know more.
Do California playgrounds have to be ADA accessible?
Public playgrounds built or rebuilt since March 2012 have to meet the 2010 ADA Standards, in California as everywhere in the US. Older ones only have to comply when they are altered, so a quick check with the city parks department is worth it.
